With a production of 95.3 Lakh Tonnes, Gujarat is the seventh largest sugarcane producing state in India and account for about 3% of total sugarcane production in the country.

With a production of 753 Lakh Tonnes, Maharashtra stands 2nd in the list of top 10 largest sugarcane producing states in India. The area under sugarcane cultivation in Maharashtra is more than 9 Lakh Hecatres.
Maharashtra has Black Lava Soil, which is ideal for growing sugarcane and contribute more than 22% in total sugarcane production in the country. Some of the major sugarcane producing areas in Maharashtra are Pune, Aurangabad, Ahmednagar, Solapur and Satara.

1. Uttar Pradesh
Uttar Pradesh is the leading state in agricultural products and also the largest sugarcane producer in India. With a production of 1,333 Lakh Tonnes, Uttar Pradesh accounts for 39% of total sugarcane production in the country.
Also, Uttar Pradesh has the largest area under sugarcane cultivation in India, which is more than 21 Lakh Hectares of land.
